  • Full-time, 12-hour days on a FIFO 2:2 or 2:1 roster

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking experienced Steel Fixers to join our team on Barrow Island. Working within a gas plant environment, you will be involved in the construction of new in-situ reinforced concrete structures supporting additional above-ground infrastructure.

Reporting to the Civil Supervisor, you will be responsible for the installation and fixing of reinforcement steel for a range of reinforced concrete structures, including foundations, footings, plinths, equipment pads, retaining walls, and associated civil infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret reinforcement drawings and specifications
  • Install and tie reinforcing steel, mesh, cages, starter bars, dowels and cast-in items
  • Position reinforcement in accordance with project requirements and tolerances
  • Assist with pre-pour inspections and quality assurance activities
  • Work closely with formwork carpenters, concreters and supervisors to achieve project milestones
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment
  • Comply with permit-to-work systems and site safety procedures

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated experience as a Steel Fixer on civil, industrial, or commercial construction projects
  • Proven experience with in-situ reinforced concrete construction
  • Ability to read and interpret reinforcement drawings and schedules
  • Experience installing reinforcement for foundations, footings, plinths, equipment pads, retaining walls, and structural concrete works
  • Previous experience in an operational gas plant, oil & gas facility, mine site, or similar high-risk industrial environment
  • White Card
  • Experience working under Permit to Work systems in high-risk industrial environments
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance
  • Full Australian working rights

DESIRABLE

  • Certificate III in Steel Fixing or equivalent
  • Experience working on major resource, mining, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects
  • Current High Risk Work Licences and/or civil plant tickets
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications

Barrow Island, located approximately 60 kilometres from the mainland and 139 kilometres west of the Port of Dampier, is home to Chevron’s Gorgon operation and WA Oil operations and hosts Western Australia’s largest oil and gas field.
